LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Southern Recipe, known for providing pork rind lovers with crunchy snacks since 1955, is launching its annual Truck Driver Appreciation Week campaign.
Southern Recipe is donating $7,500 to the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund (SCF). The relief fund helps tractor-trailer drivers and their families who are out of work due to illness or injury. St. Christopher pays for living expenses, utilities, vehicle payments, and insurance. The SCF also offers health and wellness programs.
As part of the celebratory week, Southern Recipe will honor over 3.5 million truckers in the United States. According to a press release, truckers travel nearly 400 billion kilometers every year.
“Not a day goes by that we don’t take our truckers for granted. In the midst of a difficult time for many industries, they continue to push forward and keep our grocery stores stocked,” said Mark Singleton, vice president of sales and marketing at Southern Recipe and Rudolph Foods.
“We’ve been celebrating these important road heroes for over a decade now, with the help of our amazing charity partner: St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund. These men and women literally help feed our families with food and comfort.
Southern Recipe snack lovers can enter a contest to win weekly bundles, which include food and non-food items found in truck cabs. Fans can participate in contests on the company’s social networks until September 18.
Shannon Currier, Director of Philanthropy at St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund, said, “We love partnering with brands like Southern Recipe who help us educate consumers about this important segment of the workforce. This year’s cause campaign is a great way to help everyone learn a little more about the daily struggles of truckers and their passion for the profession.
